The Department of Health Palm Beach County collects data from several sites around the county including Belle Glade. Our data is available on Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) web site and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) web site. The AQI values for Palm Beach County’s data can be found in these links.

Please note that all Department of Health Palm Beach County sites are vetted and approved to meet EPA’s criteria to achieve the overall objective of the Clean Air Act.  Each site is assessed regularly each year to ensure that they meet the requirements. The Florida Network Plan gives a broad overview of the Florida air monitoring network.

Our Program

Our air program is responsible for assuring good air quality for the community through many regulatory and non-regulatory programs, including:

• Permitting and licensing of air pollution sources.

• Conducting inspections and enforcing air pollution regulations.

• Encouraging effective growth management programs, including transportation planning, that help to minimize air pollution.

• Investigating air pollution complaints.

• Promoting pollution prevention and conservation.

• Technical assistance to residents reporting indoor air pollution.

• Control of open burning.

• Asbestos abatement and building demolition.

• Molds and Moisture.

The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County's air program has been in operation for over 25 years. The challenge facing air quality for the new millennium will be met by continuing working partnerships with government officials, and with business, community, and citizen groups.
