National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day
February 05, 2018
Palm Beach County, FL—A disproportionate number of people infected with HIV/AIDS are from the black non-Hispanic communities in Palm Beach County. Each year in an effort to encourage testing and generate awareness about HIV/AIDS, National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is celebrated on February 7.
In the county the rate of HIV/AIDS infected in the black community is 68.3 per 100,000. By contrast the white non-Hispanic community has an infection rate of 21.9 per 100,000. NBHAAD is a day of action to educate the black community on this disparity, get individuals tested and get those in need into treatment.
