FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH PALM BEACH COUNTY LAUNCHES 5-2-1-0 HEALTH INITIATIVE JUNE 20 AT JOHN PRINCE PARK

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL - Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation Department is encouraging families to get going with adopting the 5-2-1-0 Let’s Go! program by hosting a free family fun day at John Prince Park, Center Drive Pavilion, June 20 from 10 AM to 2 PM.

The 5-2-1-0 Let’s Go! program is a simple easy way to have a healthier lifestyle through daily activities that include eating five servings of fruits and vegetables or more, limiting recreational screen time to two hours or less, exercising one hour or more and drinking zero sugary drinks.

During the 5-2-1-0 Let’s Go! Healthy Habits to Live by All Summer Long is a day at the park filled with family and resident activities that will include:

  • Zumba,

  • Pound Fit, Kangoo Jumps Boot Camp,

  • Yoga, Crazy Games and Family Competitions,

  • Education & Tasting Stations,

  • Nature Encounters & Explorations,

  • Health Screenings and Safety Demonstrations,

  • DJ, Face Painter, Balloons Artist, Bounce House Obstacle Course and more.

“We want children and adults to see that healthy choices can be fun,” said Quinn Hayes, Healthy Communities Consultant with DOH-Palm Beach.

In addition to the day’s activities the Health Department will also be launching its improved interactive website at www.5210letsgo.com. The new site will offer suggested activities, toolkits, educational materials on healthy lifestyles, an interactive game, nutritional tips and more. “The new site is easy to navigate and will offer tips on keeping the fun in a healthy lifestyle,” added Hayes.

The 5-2-1-0 Let’s Go! initiative is a community effort supported by Quantum Foundation, The Palm Beach County Medical Society, Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation, Florida Department of Health, Healthier Together, Palm Healthcare Foundation, PBSO, Board of County Commissioners and Whole Foods Market. “None of this work would be possible without the support of our funders, strategic partnerships, and action teams,” said Hayes.

5-2-1-0 Let’s Go! is an initiative of Community Call to Action on Obesity. For more information visit www.flhealthpalmbeach.org, www.palmbeach,flhealth.gov, or call 561-840-4500.
