PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL—Local organizations are joining the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County by recognizing HIV Test Day, Tuesday, June 27 by coordinating activities that talk about HIV, test for HIV and treat HIV.

 “The interest in preventing and treating HIV on HIV Test Day has always been an excellent opportunity to inform everyone about the importance of knowing your status,” said Rob Scott, HIV/AIDS Educator with Florida Health, Palm Beach County.  “This year we are hoping even more people will get tested. A person knowing their status goes a long way in preventing the spread of this disease.”

In 2016 during the week that included HIV test day over 500 received the test and those infected were counseled for available care, treatment, and a course of action for the future.  “We encourage everyone who is sexually active to be tested,” added Scott “HIV can infect anyone.”

Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County Health Centers in Delray Beach, West Palm Beach, Lantana, and Belle Glade offer HIV testing and will include STD and Hepatitis testing from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 27 for walk-ins.  Appointments can be made by calling 1-888-438-2778.  In addition, the following organizations will be offering free testing during HIV Test Week.
