Water Lab

Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County

Environmental Public Health

The Florida Department of Health (FDOH) Environmental Laboratory in West Palm Beach provides microbiological testing services to the Division of Environmental Public Health and to residents and visitors in the community. The laboratory analyzes both drinking and non-potable water samples such as marine water, to assess water potability and contamination related to health hazards. Bacteriological testing services include analyses for Total Coliform and E.coli in drinking water as well as Enterococci in non-potable water.

The presence of these bacteria may be an indication of fecal pollution, and people can become ill or develop disease if contaminated water is ingested or enters the body through a cut or sore.  Our specially trained staff is certified to perform the laboratory analysis and FDOH staff in Palm Beach County is available to collect samples upon request. The FDOH Environmental Laboratory in West Palm Beach is certified by the Florida DOH Bureau of Public Health Laboratories and compliant with the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) Standards.
