DOH-Palm Beach Cautions About Blue-Green Algae at L8 Canal

Water sample testing is underway. Since environmental conditions can change at any time, it is important to exercise caution, even if presence of toxins has not yet been confirmed.
Follow-up water samples taken by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) did not detect algae toxins in Lake Okeechobee - L007.
The alert is in response to water samples taken on August 4 for Lake Okeechobee CLV10A, LZ40, PALMOUT3, LZ30, and L006.
Tests completed on Wednesday, August 5, indicate that the water quality at DuBois Park shows an acceptable level of Enterococcus bacteria established by state guidelines.
Tests completed on August 3 indicate that the water quality at DuBois Park does not meet the recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria recommended by the Florida Department of Health.
The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County (DOH-Palm Beach) has issued a health alert for the presence of harmful blue-green algae toxins in Lake Mangonia - East Shore.
DOH-Palm Beach is lifting the advisory due to recent water quality testing.
